📘Easy summary
Blood is a fluid connective tissue. Plasma (~55%): ~90% water with proteins (fibrinogen, albumin, antibodies), glucose, salts, hormones, urea; transports dissolved materials. Cells (~45%): RBCs (erythrocytes) — biconcave, no nucleus, contain haemoglobin to carry O₂; WBCs (leucocytes) — nucleated; neutrophils and monocytes engulf germs (phagocytosis), lymphocytes make antibodies; platelets — cell fragments that start clotting (fibrinogen → fibrin). Plasma without clotting proteins = serum.
⭐Key points
- Low platelets → poor clotting.

🌿Real-life example
Anaemia = low haemoglobin/RBCs.
💡Exam tip
- State one function per component.
✅Quick check
